Yaesu FTX-1 Optima

• This radio gets a lot of heat online, but for my use case it's great. It's an all-in-one base station, mobile, and field unit that's perfect for someone getting started.

Yaesu FT5DR

• This is my every day HT that gets the most use. I love being able to monitor multiple repeaters with the PMG feature or even just using the dual VFO. The touchscreen makes programming easy, it's well built (though not as well built as the VX-6R), and it supports APRS and Fusion.

Yaesu VX-6R

• I have two of these rugged tri-band HTs that I switch between. They're great for hiking, boating, or even as quick mobile stations with a magnetic car mount. I also have a Digirig mobile that works great for digital with these radios.

Meshtastic
